The much-anticipated Oxygen Bird Park in Nagpur was finally inaugurated by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on September 28. This first-of-its-kind eco-initiative has been built along the Nagpur-Hyderabad (NH-44) highway and will provide natural habitat to birds and plants in the central India region. First-Of-Its-Kind Oxygen Bird Park Inaugurated In Nagpur

Oxygen Bird Park, also called Amrit Mahotsav Park, is a brainchild of Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. He inaugurated the park on Saturday in Jamtha, Nagpur. This unique park is spread across 8.23 hectares of land and is built along the Nagpur-Hyderabad Highway.

This eco-initiative has been developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and has 2.5 hectares of social forestry. It has been developed to be a safe and natural habitat for plants and birds, as well as a recreational space for locals and tourists.

The park focuses greatly on sustainability. NHAI joined hands with the Social Forestry Division of Nagpur to plant fast-growing and oxygen-producing trees in this park. They believe that this will help reduce air pollution, promote a healthier environment in this area, and maintain a green space for the plants and birds.

The Oxygen Bird Park has been built at an estimated cost of ₹14 crore. The park aims to provide green, safe, and natural habitat for bird species and plants found in central India. As per a News18 report, the park will have distinct areas that are aimed at conservation and ecological enhancement. One can find endangered trees that are native to central India like Indian Bael, Gum Karaya, and Yellow Flame here.

The park has been designed along the lines of a natural ecosystem. It will welcome both local and migratory bird populations and provide them with a safe and natural habitat. To provide food to the birds, the park will have a variety of fruit-bearing plants like jamun, mango, guava, bel, tamarind, fig, amla, jackfruit, and lots more.
