Being a woman is indeed scary. Not even the safest places can guarantee complete safety for the gender. Recently, a woman took to social media and shared a bone-chilling incident that happened to her when she landed at the Kempegowda International Airport or KIA in Bengaluru. She was picked up by a person who opposed an Ola driver. Luckily, she narrowly escaped by being alert and noticing things that were off from the get-go.
Woman Picked Up By Fake Cabbie At Bengaluru Airport
almost got trafficked/raped/looted/assaulted by a random cab driver who was let in by @BLRAirport in the Ola pickup station & impersonated to be one at terminal 1 of BLR airport at 10:30pm
had I not called 112, I’d not be here typing this pic.twitter.com/QpFdlRJFjF— Dr. N (@doctorniikii) November 9, 2024
According to an article which was recently published by The Free Press Journal or FPJ, this incident took place on Saturday, November 9, 2024. The woman got out of the Bengaluru Airport at around 10:30 PM. She went to the airport’s designated Ola zone to get a ride home.
omit my handwriting, I hope you understand you’re not safe travelling alone even in one of the most safest city in the country that too taking an airport cab;my fault?just wanting to reach home asap without having doubts on the cab driver’s intentions

Even though she booked a mini, a sedan arrived and the driver told her that it was okay and that he would drop her. Upon entering the cab, she repeatedly told him the mandatory OTP but the driver did not seem to care about it. He instead opened his Google Maps and asked her to enter her destination.

I hope it reaches more people, & airport authorities are more careful of such drivers entering pickup stations & to the ladies, have 112 on speed dial PELASE pic.twitter.com/iSriL9ITM8— Dr. N (@doctorniikii) November 9, 2024
The woman found it that odd as well, given that drivers get access to the destination once they get the OTP. After a while, he started asking for more money than what the app showed. When she declined, the driver said that someone else he knows will take her to her destination.
How She Managed To Escape After Being Alert
maybe he did all this only for extra bucks, maybe he had worse intentions, maybe he was intoxicated, I DO NOT KNOW
I was lucky enough to escape the worst around 11pm in the middle of nowhere; being on call with a male friend, helped me to call 112 asap & I acted swiftly— Dr. N (@doctorniikii) November 10, 2024
He stopped at a petrol station and asked her to pay for the fuel. Luckily, she had been on a call with a male friend this whole time. He called 112 for her and the police arrived promptly.
