There is a new running event that’s supposed to be taking place in AlUla. We are talking about the AlUla Desert Blaze that is scheduled to commence on August 26. In a report by Arab News, it was revealed that athletes from the region and around the world will be partaking in this race, which is supposed to be a high-intensity and endurance event. While it will be taking place in the blazing summer temperatures of 42°C, this event is also the latest addition to the exciting line-up of sports events in AlUla. Boasting, sandstone, cliffs, productive farmlands, and lush oases, the beautiful albeit unique environment of the region makes for an excellent backdrop for the event.

How To Sign Up For This Event?

During this event, men and women of several fitness levels will have to complete a distance of 5, 10, 21, and 42 km to become the first global conqueror of a challenging race. They will have to achieve this by pushing themselves and their physical capacities to the absolute limit! The starting point of the races at Hegra, which is also the kingdom’s first UNESCO World Heritage site! This is the starting point for the participants in the 5 km, 10 km and 20 km races.

And for those who are up for taking part in a marathon, the race will begin at Maraya. It should be noted that the enrollment for the race which offers a whopping price of SR1,10,000, is open till August 22. As it happens, to ensure the runners are in safe hands, medical support will be provided. This includes access to ambulances, nurses, physiotherapists, and even mobile & stationed paramedics. Not to mention, aid stations will also be situated at every 5 km of the race route, stocked with essential supplies like water, ice containers, energy gels, fresh fruits, and snacks.
