Gin-Flavoured Beer

In the world of spirits, innovation and creativity constantly push the boundaries of what’s possible. One such remarkable creation that has captured the attention of connoisseurs and curious drinkers alike is the fusion of beer and gin into a distinctive and intriguing spirit. Bringing these two diverse profiles together is a masterful feat of flavour balance. And well, Bira 91 and Greater Than gin have done something similar, crafting a gin-flavoured beer.

Bira 91 & Greater Than Launch A Special Gin-Flavoured Beer

The beer brand, Bira 91 has come together with India’s NAO Spirits, known for the craft gin market in the country with their London Dry Gin, Greater Than. The result is Greater IPA, a limited-release gin-flavoured beer.

Coming to the flavour profile, Greater IPA has the Macedonian Juniper, a crucial component of Greater Than’s London Dry gin to give it a robust and spicy touch. The drink draws inspiration from the fascinating world of gin botanicals. Instead of the typical fruity hops found in IPAs, the brew’s hops have a piney flavour that harmonises with the distinctive juniper flavour to provide a well-balanced blend of piney and spicy overtones. It’s neither just beer nor just gin, but a harmonious blend of both.

The Greater IPA combines the strong taste of beer with the refined delicacy of gin to create an IPA that offers a harmonious and enjoyable drinking experience for fans of both beers and gins.

A Twist On The IPA

This innovative fusion showcases the best of both worlds, marrying the familiar comfort of beer with the intriguing complexity of gin’s botanicals.  The drink seems to be delighting the palates of adventurous drinkers and setting a new standard for innovation in the world of spirits.

Gin, famous for its botanical infusion, offers an array of options for distillers to get creative.  Juniper berries, coriander seeds, citrus peels, and various herbs and spices are just a few of the ingredients that can be used to impart distinctive and complex aromas and tastes to the spirit. And here, with Greater IPA they seem to have beer’s malty sweetness and hoppy bitterness while adding the aromatic complexity of gin’s botanicals.

Starting on September 14, 2023, the beer will only be sold at Bira 91 Taprooms in Gurugram at the DLF Cyberhub and Bengaluru at Koramangala, where it will remain on tap until supplies run out.
