Anand Mahindra Devastated By Wayanad Landslides; Pledges Support In Relief Efforts

Kerala’s Wayanad woke up to swollen water bodies, uprooted trees, and destroyed houses on Tuesday morning after massive landslides hit the area. Local authorities have confirmed that more than 50 people have died due to these landslides. Amid this news, Anand Mahindra expressed his desire to help with relief measures and support people in Wayanad.

Anand Mahindra Calls Wayanad Landslides A Tragedy

Anand Mahindra took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his devastation over the Wayanad landslides and the deaths caused by this disaster. He called the landslides a “tragedy” and pledged to offer support in the relief efforts. He posted some beautiful pictures of Wayanad in his post and called the place a “paradise on earth.”

In his tweet, he said, “Wayanad is a paradise on earth. To see it devastated by landslides with many lives lost is a tragedy. Our hearts are with the people of Wayanad and we will do whatever we can in the relief effort.”

Many Netizens agreed with Anand Mahindra and appreciated his generosity in helping the people in tragedy-stuck Wayanad.

Devastating Landslides In Kerala Cause Multiple Casualties

Following the torrential rains on July 30 morning, massive landslides hit Kerala’s Wayanad district. According to The Hindu report, more than 50 people have been confirmed dead by the local authorities. Areas like Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha have been affected due to the disaster.

Huge boulders that rolled down from the hills are causing hindrance for the rescue workers. More than 100 people are likely to be trapped due to these landslides and the authorities are seeking assistance from the Indian Army for rescue operations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) to assure people in Wayanad that all possible help will be provided to the authorities to deal with the crisis. The PM also announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased in the Wayanad landslides.

We hope that the weather in the region improves soon and rescue workers are able to carry out their operations on time and save the lives of the people trapped due to this disaster.
