As the authorities prepare to issue permits for more than 150 shacks, the beaches of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are expected to become more crowded. After reading reviews and feedback from tourists, they came up with this plan. Currently, the beaches are not open for tourists at night. Therefore, they feel like the beaches don’t feel lively after sunset.

As per The Indian Express report, Jatinder Sohal, Tourism Department director, stated that the plan permits 40 beach shacks on Neil Island, 20 each on Laxmanpur and Bharatpur beaches. On Havelock Island, they will build 20 beach shacks — 10 in Kala Pathar, 5 in Sitapur and 15 in Elephanta.

Also, 40 beach shacks will be built in Middle Andaman, with 15 at Raman Bagaicha, 10 in Cutbert Bay, and 15 in Baludera. There will also be 25 shacks allowed in the Middle Andaman, with 15 at Karmatang in Mayabunder and 10 at Ramnagar in Diglipur.

The director further stated that the unorganised hawkers and other temporary shacks give a shabby look to the beaches. In fact, they spoil the beautiful ambience of the beaches and are a cause of disturbance for the visitors. Also, this has raised issues about the environment and its natural ecosystem. The shacks will provide everything from food, and drinks to music and will be a place to enjoy with your friends and family.

According to him, the shacks would be constructed from local and organic materials like bamboo, wood, thatch, or even palm fronds. He also added that the rustic design will blend in with the surroundings, allowing guests to fully appreciate the beaches’ natural beauty.
