Karnataka is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the new COVID-19 strain doesn’t create havoc in the state. Earlier the state made masks mandatory in public places like bars, and restaurants once again, especially for New Year celebrations. And now, Karnataka has announced that travellers arriving from high-risk nations need to undergo home quarantine. Here’s more about it.
Karnataka Makes 7-Day Home Quarantine Mandatory For International Arrivals From High-Risk Nations
In the last week of December 2022, Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar stated that 12 passengers arriving from international destinations tested positive for COVID-19 on arrival at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru. While the samples are being identified for their variants, the state is exercising utmost caution when it comes to international travellers.

On December 31, 2022, the Karnataka government implemented new rules for travellers arriving from high-risk nations. The guidelines implemented from immediate effect state that travellers arriving from — China, Thailand, South Korea, Japan and Singapore must undergo 7 days of home quarantine. This is a mandatory 7-day home quarantine. Also, a negative COVID test result is also compulsory for passengers arriving from these above-stated high-risk nations.

Self Isolate & Monitor Symptoms
If they test COVID positive, then they will be cured as per Karnataka COVID protocols. Also, the government has increased efforts to contain coronavirus and even track and quarantine primary and secondary contacts of the infected people. Asymptomatic passengers must self-isolate and monitor for any symptoms. They must wear face masks, practice social distancing, use sanitisers and stay in home quarantine for 7 days.

If international passengers under home quarantine, notice any COVID-19 symptoms during this period, they must immediately isolate and contact the local surveillance health team. The team shall arrive and carry out the necessary testing. These symptoms include cough, cold, fever, body pain, headache, diarrhoea, difficulty in breathing and even loss of smell and taste.
