Cricket doyen Yuvraj Singh graciously invited our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, the first ever guest at his newly launched restaurant, Koca, in Gurugram. Apart from the delicious spread laid out in front of them, the cricketer shared about his passion for food, childhood memories and opened up like never before. His mother, Shabnam Singh, was part of this intimate conversation. Yuvi candidly made a revelation about his love for South Indian food, the cricketer confessed to downing five to six dosas at a time in Delhi.
Yuvraj Singh & His Mom Loved Downing Dosas At Delhi’s Sagar Ratna
While dining and chatting at Koca with Yuvraj Singh and his mom, Shabnam Singh, Kamiya Jani played a fun game of ‘This or That’ with the duo. She first asked Yuvi to choose between Chole Bhature or Aloo Paratha. The cricketer instantly replied that while he liked both, he’d choose Aloo Paratha. Between safed makkhan (white butter) and ghee, he chose the former.
Interestingly, when she asked Yuvi to choose between North Indian and South Indian food, the mother-son duo instantly replied South Indian food as they both are crazy about dosas. But since they also like paneer, they chose North Indian food as well. Seeing their love for dosa, Kamiya later asked Yuvi about his favourite childhood haunt. The all-knowing Shabnam shared that they ate plenty of dosas at Sagar Ratna in Delhi.
They Travelled From Chandigarh Just For South Indian Food
Shabnam and Yuvraj Singh would head to Sagar Ratna, where the cricketer would gobble at least five to six dosas. The dosas were crispy and were topped with butter, which is why Yuvi couldn’t have enough of them. To date, he can visit the same Delhi haunt and eat at least three dosas. Shabnam revealed that while many South Indian eateries have opened in the capital, Sagar Ratna was a pioneer at that time. From Chandigarh, the duo would travel all the way to Delhi’s Defence Colony just to have dosas at Sagar Ratna.
