And of course, with the soaring temperature comes an advisory issued by doctors in the region. Yes, they have advised residents to stay indoors, especially during the peak heat hours, and to make sure they avoid direct sun exposure. The report also mentioned that people have been advised to stay hydrated to prevent any loss of electrolytes. Moreover, they have been advised to steer clear of activities under direct sunlight. And if you do have to step out, it is advisable to wear sunscreen and sunglasses along with loose-fitting and light-coloured clothing to feel light during this harsh weather.

This comes after the UAE’s Mid-day Break initiative has been in effect since June 15, which bans work in open spaces or under direct sunlight from 12:30 PM to 3 PM. Implemented by the Ministry of Human Resource & Emiritisation, this rule has been brought into effect for the 19th consecutive year! Not to mention, if an employer is found guilty of non-compliance, they will be fined AED5000 for each worker with the maximum amount of the fine being AED50,000, if multiple workers are made to work under the sun during the banned hours.

So, as temperatures continue to storm, make sure to take precautions and stay safe during the punishing weather.
