As The First Temple Gets Inaugurated In Abu Dhabi, A Dubai Gurudwara To Offer 5000 Free Meals

For the first time ever, a traditional Hindu temple is opening in the UAE. The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, which is going to be inaugurated on February 14, Wednesday is certainly a sought-after event that nobody would want to miss. And commemorating this historic moment that will also strengthen the ties between India and the UAE, a gurdwara in Dubai is giving free meals.

Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara To Offer 5000 Free Meals

Guru Nanak Durbar Gurdwara in Dubai has decided that it will be serving 5,000 meals in the langar, according to a report by Khaleej Times. For those who aren’t aware, langar is a community meal, wherein free food is given irrespective of religion or nationality. The meals will be served in the presence of His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, who is the spiritual guru of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

Gurdwara Committee Offered To Give Free Meals

At this point, it’s worth mentioning that serving such free food during langar is a tradition that the gurdwaras across the globe. The belief is that no one goes hungry and as the gurdwara committee in Dubai offered Swami Brahmaviharidas. He is the head of the BAPS Hindu Mandir project and he accepted the same. So, the free community food is not just a welcome of sorts to the new addition to the multi-faith community but is also a way of thanking the UAE authority for their forward-thinking approach.

A Brief Detail About The BAPS Hindu Mandir

In case you’re still unaware, the BAPS Hindu Mandir will be inaugurated on February 14, Wednesday. This is the first and the biggest traditional stone temple in the UAE. The construction is nearly complete and will be inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was given the land for the temple as a gift by the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in 2015.
