For this iconic Sunday Brunch episode, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, flew to Dubai to meet none other than Asha Bhosle! The legendary singer took us to Asha’s, her renowned Indian restaurant in the “City of Gold”. We were lucky enough to get a thorough tour of the restaurant by Asha Bhosle herself! She also pampered us with a meal with delish pulao, kebabs and so much more. The conversations started with her love for food and ended with reminiscing about her younger days. This time, we talk about the grandest parties she attended and how they are close to her heart.
Asha Bhosle Recalled Raj Kapoor’s Parties
The 91-year-old Asha ji took Kamiya for a tour of Asha’s. She couldn’t stop speaking about the numerous black-and-white pictures adorning its walls. Right from snapshots of her childhood days to receiving awards and dancing to songs to recording, there is everything. And there is a lovely story behind every picture! While strolling, the singer gave us some insights behind those photo frames.
Some of them were really old pictures; this made her reflect on her youth days. She told us that she would hardly go out to flashy functions or parties. Asha ji only attended a handful of parties, around 10-12. All those parties were hosted by the iconic Bollywood actor, Raj Kapoor. Seems like Raj Kapoor’s grand parties were irresistible to her.

The Parties Were The Grandest In The City
There is a significant reason why Asha ji only went to Raj Kapoor’s parties. She said, “Voh joh partiya hoti thi, Raj Kapoor ji ki, Bombay mein sabse badi!” Those lavish parties with loud songs, celebrity gatherings and much more were very memorable for her.
That was the last time she partied regally. We could sense that she was not entirely fond of partying and Raj Kapoor’s parties were the only ones for her. We wonder what else was unfolding during those grand parties in the City of Dreams!
