Asha Bhosle’s Family Settled In Sangli, Kolhapur
We were on the topic of Asha Ji’s childhood with her three siblings. We wanted her to reflect on the sweet memories of her birthplace, Sangli. It is a town in Kolhapur, Maharashtra known for its production of turmeric and commonly known as the “Turmeric City of India.”
The singer shared that her father was the owner of a theatre company. Under their banner, 200 people were employed. Due to this line of work, the family had to move multiple times from one city to another. After a certain point in time, shifting became a hassle for the growing family.
Therefore, her father decided to settle down. He built a massive house in Sangli, Kolhapur and this is where Asha Bhosle was born. Our guest shared that her elder sisters, Meena and the late Lata Ji, were born in Indore. At the same time, the rest of the Mangeshkar kids were born in Sangli.

Her Childhood Memories
Asha Bhosle reminisced about her sweet childhood days with constant futile fights among siblings and riyaz hours with her musically inclined family in Sangli. Lata ji was four years older than Asha ji and they shared a precious sisterly bond. The latter told us that her sister showered her with love and care during their childhood days.
She used to have chubby cheeks and people adored this attribute of hers, so she was extremely likeable as a kid. On top of that Lata ji would take her little sissy everywhere. They were inseparable and that landed them in some minuscule situation.

Lata Ji would take her to the music class where Asha Ji would sit in a corner and watch her sister. However, the music teacher refused to train her with the same fee for both sisters!
