In a significant step towards upgrading railway infrastructure in the Northeast, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has given Haibargaon Railway Station in Assam a brilliant makeover. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, this railway transformation focuses on convenience for passengers while celebrating local heritage and promoting sustainability.
Assam’s Haibargaon Railway Station Is Upgraded
Located in Nagaon, Assam, Haibargaon is a place with rich cultural roots and transport significance. The Haibargaon Railway Station was founded in 1887 and has long been an essential component of regional connectivity. With this new makeover, it’s been redesigned to meet the needs of today’s travellers.
According to NE India Broadcast, the station has undergone a full makeover, with structured parking spaces, clearly marked lanes for pick-up and drop-off, and wider pathways for pedestrians. The station now welcomes passengers with a stylish new entrance, making the first impression bright, inviting, and easy to navigate. Modern booking counters in a spacious concourse area mean less waiting time and more comfort.
One of the most impressive parts of this redevelopment is how much emphasis was put on inclusivity. Haibargaon Station now features ramps and tactile tiles for Divyangjan (persons with disabilities), accessible toilets, dedicated ticket counters, baby feeding rooms, a children’s play area, and comfortable waiting spaces for senior citizens and women travellers, NE India Broadcast reports. No matter who you are or what your needs are, the station will be welcoming and accessible.

Redesigned Perfectly For Every Kind Of Traveller
Whether you’re a solo traveller, a parent with young kids, or someone with special needs, Haibargaon’s new design has got you covered. The new features make sure that everyone, regardless of age or ability, can travel with ease and dignity.
The waiting hall isn’t just a place to wait for your train. It also showcases Assamese culture, with vibrant murals and colourful local art. There’s a refreshment room right next to the platform for convenience. According to NE India Broadcast, the station also has themed lighting installations and an upgraded passenger information system.
This redevelopment was designed to display modernity with a hint of responsibility. Here, you’ll see eco-friendly landscaping and kiosks as part of the “One Station One Product” initiative. These kiosks sell local artisanal goods, promoting small businesses, giving travellers a chance to indulge in the local culture.
The new Haibargaon Railway Station is a beautiful blend of heritage, modernity, inclusivity, and sustainability.
