While thousands of fans had a gala time dancing to Diljit Dosanjh’s song over the weekend, the city athletes were not happy! The day after the weekend-long concert, they were welcomed into the stadium with piles of garbage and it has surely left them angry. Beant Singh, a Delhi-based middle-distance runner, took to Instagram to share a video of how the concert-goers and organiser left the stadium filled with waste.

A heartbroken Beant starts the video by saying, “Yeh hai aukaat India main sports and sportspersons ki.” In the video, you can see the main tracks of the JLN Stadium covered with food and drink waste after the Diljit Dosanjh concert. Beant Singh mentions how the equipment of the athletes, which is usually kept in the stadium, was damaged and thrown aside during the concert preparation. Furthermore, the stadium has also shut down for the sportspersons for the last 10 days because of the concert preps.

This is simply sad and unacceptable. We are sure the organisers do clean up the venue after the big events, however, it cannot be denied that it does end up disrupting the schedules of the athletes. We hope that the concerned authorities and organisers in this case resolve the matter at the earliest. Let’s not forget, that it’s also our responsibility to ensure that we don’t litter the place that is someone else’s place of training. Do share your hot take on this matter in the comments.
