Not to jinx it, but Delhi Capitals are having one of their best seasons in the Indian Premier League (IPL) so far! And fans are excited to witness the home team spread their magic at Arun Jaitley Stadium too. Understanding Delhiites’ love for cricket, the Delhi Metro has made changes in its last train timings on all lines on IPL match days. If you’re also planning to catch a match live at the stadium, then here’s a complete metro guide to ensure a seamless commute.
Take A Metro To Catch IPL Matches In Delhi
Arun Jaitley Stadium, formerly Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, is the home ground for IPL team Delhi Capitals. With the IPL fever running high, thousands of fans come to support their favourite teams, and this can lead to major traffic chaos. So, we suggest skipping personal cars and even cabs and turning to Delhi’s favourite mode of transport–the Delhi Metro!
The cricket stadium is located on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and the nearest metro stations are Delhi Gate and ITO Metro stations on the Violet Line. These stations lie on the Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh corridor. From the Delhi Gate Metro Station, the Arun Jaitley Stadium is roughly 250 metres away, so you can simply walk to your destination. The distance between ITO Metro Station and the stadium is about 1.7 kilometres and is a good option, in case the Delhi Gate one gets too crowded. Auto rickshaws are easily available to make the commute more convenient.

Match Dates & Extended Train Services
The IPL matches in Delhi are scheduled for April 16, 27 and 29, and May 11. Understanding fans’ love for the sport, Delhi Metro has made changes in its last train timings on all lines, including the Airport Express Line. According to a statement released by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), in order to manage the expected crowd at nearby stations after each match, the Delhi Metro will run 76 additional train trips on match days.
Aimed at ensuring a smoother and safer commute for spectators, Delhi Metro will extend its last train timings by about one to two hours on all lines. DMRC also added that the last train timing can be further adjusted based on the match day requirement.
