Australia is currently facing a powerful and disastrous bomb cyclone, which is wreaking havoc on its east coast, as per a report in The Economic Times. Authorities are now warning people to be prepared for escalations. This intense weather is producing cyclonic winds and heavy torrential rainfall from the Mid North Coast to Bega, including Sydney. The storm is not only bringing dangerous surf but also strong winds and flood-like conditions. As per the latest report in The Independent, the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has reported that this powerful bomb cyclone is rapidly intensifying and causing widespread disruption along the coastline of NSW. Many areas are also predicted to receive up to 100mm of rain in the next 24 hours, along with powerful winds. This deadly combination of strong winds and heavy rainfall can cause significant damage, especially on coastal roads and highways.

Travel Disruptions Are Being Reported

Travel disruptions are also being reported. Several roads are closed due to floods, and train services are being delayed due to fallen trees. The State Emergency Service (SES) is also working to clear and restore the roads. Authorities are advising people to avoid non-essential travel, especially in regions with high chances of flooding.

BOM has also highlighted that the heavy torrential rainfall could rapidly raise river levels, including in parts of the Hunter Valley. Power outages are being reported across the region due to damage to power lines. As per the report by ET, the Department of Energy and Environment has advised residents to keep emergency supplies handy, like flashlights and batteries.
