India is not for beginners! We’re not exaggerating. It’s a fact. When heavy rains lashed the capital, flooding the roads, a politician was seen rowing an inflatable boat. In movie theatres, riding pillion employees are seen busily working on their laptops and taking multi-tasking to new heights. Recently, an Australian woman and podcaster called Indians the “toughest and chillest people” in the world after an Uber driver drove her to Mumbai Airport on waterlogged roads.
Australian Woman Impressed By Indians’ Tenacity To Navigate Flood Water
Bree Steele, an Australian podcaster and content creator was both amused and impressed by Indians. Why? Well, despite the heavy rains and the waterlogged roads in Mumbai, her Uber driver drove her to the airport like a pro at 3 AM. “I’m convinced that Indian people are the toughest and chillest people in the world,” she said in a reel.
She had to travel to Mumbai Airport at 3 AM despite the heavy floods in the country’s financial capital. “The water was up to here,” said Bree indicating almost chest-level depth of the water. Her Uber driver just through, murmuring a casual “Koi baat nahin” (It’s alright). She went on to show a clip of her experience. Bree sat in the backseat of the cab as water splashed inside the vehicle, drenching her.

Uber Drive Dropped Her To Mumbai Airport In Knee-Deep Water
“My Uber driver just went through literal flood waters,” gasped the podcaster in the video. At one point, Bree even wonders if it is genuinely safe to drive on severely waterlogged roads. At one point, the video shows large amounts of water surpassing apartment gates and leaving people stranded on the roads.
Almost shocked and surprised at her driver for being able to navigate the vehicle through the heavy showers, Bree said, “This can only happen in India”. She commended people for waiting at major junctions and guiding commuters through traffic and flood waters at 3 AM. The Australian woman entered Mumbai Airport, soaked but Mumbaikars were nonchalant about the situation. It was just another rainy day at Aamchi Mumbai.
