The Ram Lalla idol by a Mysore-based sculptor has been selected to be installed in the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22 on the auspicious “Prana Prathistapana Muhurtham.” According to union minister Pralhad Joshi, the magnificent Ram temple will be adored by the statue created by renowned Karnataka’s Mysore sculptor Arun Yogiraj on Monday. According to his family members here, the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust on Monday chose Yogiraj’s Ram Lalla through voting out of the three idols shortlisted. Together with his team, Yogiraj sculpted the idol using a special Krishna shila (stone) from Bujji Goudanapura hamlet in HD Kote taluk in Mysore district.
Former Karnataka chief minister B. S. Yediyurappa also expressed joy on social media, complimenting sculptor Arun Yogiraj and expressing delight in the Lord Ram idol that was selected to be placed in Ram Mandir.
During the trust’s meeting on Friday, Bimlendra Mohan Pratap Mishra, a trustee of Ram Janmbhoomi Teertha Kshetra, acknowledged that the idol selection process had finished.
In his explanation of the selection process, Mishra emphasised the allure of the idol, stating that it calls to you and mesmerises you the moment you lay eyes on it. Regardless of how many are placed next to each other, the best idol will always command the most attention.

A significant part of the decision-making process was performed by Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra’s secretary, Champat Rai.
Ram Lalla’s idol is striking to behold, with eyes like lotus petals, a moonlit, luminous face, long arms that reach the knees, a grin on the lips, and an atmosphere that is fundamentally simple. It is anticipated that this idol, which was made with longevity in mind, will not require restoration for the next 1,000 years.
Comparisons between the portrayals of Lord Ram in the Valmiki Ramayana and the Ramcharitmanas are part of this examination. In addition, tests were conducted on the idols to determine if any effects were produced by incense, sandalwood, turmeric, or other worship products.
