Currently, this harmful tick-borne disease is noticing a surge in the US. According to a report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from the year 2023, Babesiosis infections are getting registered in large numbers in the northeast part of this country.
In conversation with The Washington Post, Paul Auwaerter, the professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, shared that Babesiosis can turn out to be a severe disease. The situation can turn extreme for patients with weakened immune systems.

According to a report by CNBC TV18, patients may tend to suffer from anaemia.

The treatment procedure for Babesiosis usually depends on the doctor’s prescriptions. Also, patients are often advised to take azithromycin, atovaquone, clindamycin, and quinine, as per a report by Cleveland Clinic. If necessary, doctors advise hospitalisation for serious infections. In addition, treatment of this disease includes the process of blood transfusion at times.
