The Mumbai Coastal Road project is all set to be connected to the iconic Bandra-Worli Sea Link. This will enable cars to reach Bandra directly from the Nariman Point area. Most of the work is finally done and officials are hoping that the bridge will be partially open by this month itself. According to an article which was recently published by The Indian Express or IE, the bow arch bridges weigh around 4,000 metric tonnes and have a length of 140 metres. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or BMC is slated to open the bridge for vehicular traffic.
Once it does, people from the Nariman Point area of South Mumbai will be able to reach Bandra directly without having to go to Worli first. As per Bhushan Gagrani, who is the Municipal commissioner of Mumbai and the state administrator, the bridge should be partially open by this month itself.
According to his statement cited in the IE article, one of the two arch bridges is almost complete. Only ancillary works like signage painting and illuminating the structure are pending. The coastal road is currently open for traffic between 7 AM and 11 PM on weekdays.

As per the article, officials are hoping to open the connecting bridge for vehicular traffic by September 10, 2024. It was initially supposed to open towards the end of July, however, the work was delayed. One of the major reasons for this delay was the heavy spell of rain in Mumbai during this period.

The bridge is touted to ease traffic congestion and aid in a smoother travel experience for motorists. This means that people will be able to significantly reduce their travel time.
