Knight Frank is a London-based estate agency and property consultancy firm. Recently, they published a ‘Think India, Think Retail 2023’ report. It revealed India’s top high street based on five parameters. And guess what four out of ten India’s high streets are in Bengaluru, the IT Hub! The study has listed a total of thirty high streets; take a look!
Bengaluru’s MG Road Tops India’s High Street 2023 List
A high street is defined as a shopping street that is utilised for main commercial and retail operations and has become a hub for retailers in many different categories. The majority of high streets in India are well connected by public transit, including buses and/or metro rail, and are simple to reach by private vehicle on the road. Typically, high streets have stores with a 40% or higher retail and brand presence, including both modern and traditional retail spaces. The kind of retail establishments present on high streets carry both domestic and foreign brands and are quite popular with customers.
According to the report, Bengaluru’s MG Road, or Mahatma Gandhi Road, has topped the list! It is most renowned for its amazing shopping opportunities, eateries, cafes, and culinary outlets serving delicious treats. But it is not the only street from Bengaluru! The report shows that Commercial Street, Brigade Street and Church Street are ranked 7th, 9th and 10th respectively.

The second position was bagged by Hyderabad’s Somajiguda, the city’s commercial centre. In addition to this, Gachibowli, Ameerpet, Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills are listed in the top 30 and ranked in 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th position respectively.
