The flight was all set to take off from Kolkata to Bangkok but was grounded due to a technical issue. According to reports by Financial Express, the Thai Lion Air Boeing faced a technical issue due to a ‘flap-related’ problem. Flaps in an aircraft play a crucial role in generating lift or drag during landing and takeoff. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) stated that the Thai Lion Air Boeing landed in Kolkata around 1:35 AM on Saturday, and the estimated time of departure was 2:35 AM. The flight was scheduled to depart for Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) in Bangkok.

However, the Boeing 737-800, a newly generated aircraft, encountered a technical issue, leading to its cancellation for the entire day. The aircraft initially pushed back from parking bay 60R, but upon detecting issues with the flaps, it returned and was parked at stand 34 around 2:43 AM.

According to the report by Financial Express, an airline official stated that the passengers were extremely agitated and were shouting at the crew members. We often come across such aviation-related issues on the internet, where airline crews struggle to manage situations effectively and face challenges in addressing passengers’ concerns. However, the Thai Lion Air Boeing decided to cancel the flight, prioritising passenger safety above all.

Hotel Accommodation Provided To Passengers

Along with the technical snag, there was also an air-conditioning malfunction on the flight, causing passengers to deal with uncomfortable humidity. They were requested to deboard and were provided with hotel accommodation. The flight, which had a layover at Kolkata Airport and was scheduled to depart for Don Mueang International Airport in Thailand, encountered multiple issues.

Engineers from Thailand were flown in to inspect the problems in the 10-year-old aircraft, and it was initially set to depart the next day, Sunday, around 2:30 AM. However, according to the reports by The Times of India, the departure of Thai Lion Air’s Boeing was later expected around 9 AM. Technical and operational issues in aviation disrupt flight schedules and impact passengers’ overall travel experience.
