Barkha Singh Has Some Practical Tips To Manage Finances
After some thrift shopping in Colaba, we stopped by the iconic Leopold Café with her. Following a fun round of ‘Never Have I Ever’ and ‘This or That’, we got curious about her first paycheck. Barkha Singh revealed that she was just looking for a side gig to make some extra cash when she landed an opportunity to manage food and beverages for a Microsoft ad shoot in Mumbai. She shared that she got paid ₹12,000 per day for that gig; pretty impressive, we must say!
While we were on the topic of money, we asked her to share some financial tips for Gen Z. She emphasised that saving money is key. She also believes that “money makes money” — and explained it in two ways: first, by investing and letting it grow; and second, by investing in yourself to evolve and attract more opportunities.
One valuable tip she shared is to always keep a certain amount saved in your account before spending freely. She followed this practice when she first started earning and convinced herself not to become a big spender until she had a fixed amount saved up at all times.

This Is The Most Expensive Thing She Has Ever Bought
After our elaborate conversation about finances, we wanted to know what the most expensive thing she has bought to date is. Barkha revealed that it’s her house, which she bought at the age of 29. While it was a proud moment for her, she joked that by the time she finished signing all the property documents, she started questioning her decision. “The booklet for the property papers is so thick,” she laughed, “that after the first few signatures, you’re in shock — like, now that I’ve bought the house, I’ll actually have to pay for it!” By the time she signed the last page, she was seriously wondering, What have I done?
In this episode, we also put Barkha Singh’s bargaining skills to the test. Curious to see how she did? Watch the full episode now on the Curly Tales YouTube channel.
