The Rajaji-Raghav Tiger Reserve is nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas. The Rajaji Raghati Biosphere (RRB) is a 35-acre private forest venture led by ecologists Vijay Dhasmana and Jai Dhar Gupta that spans across the Rajaji Tiger Reserve. This biosphere reserve is a haven for biodiversity, boasting rich flora and fauna amidst its diverse ecosystems.
About Rajaji Raghati Biosphere
Rajaji-RaghavTiger Reserve holds historical significance alongside its ecological importance. Dhasmana, who is well-known for recovering the Aravalli landscapes, emphasises the importance of active rewilding activities. This farm’s mission goes beyond addressing climate change to provide a peaceful example of coexistence. Their goals include monitoring biological succession, protecting and restoring native plants, planting forests, and more. In addition, the project seeks to establish a natural forest and a small community of environmentally friendly homes that represent a mutually beneficial partnership between people and the natural world.
Selected shrubs, trees, grasses, and climbers have been planted on the mainly barren terrain. The Rajaji Tiger Reserve and the Raghati River offer a rare chance to take advantage of the biodiversity and natural resources. The location intends to overcome the difficulties of poor soil quality and create a diversified and sustainable ecosystem by carefully choosing native species and managing the transition from agricultural land to woodland. By emphasising ecological restoration and rewilding, they plan to lessen the negative effects of intensive agriculture and encourage the regrowth of natural habitats.

Biodiversity Around
The biodiversity within is nothing short of astounding. The reserve harbours a remarkable variety of flora, interspersed with grasslands and riverine habitats. These diverse ecosystems support an equally impressive array of fauna, with a lot of species of birds. Eco-tourism plays a crucial role in generating revenue for conservation efforts while raising awareness about the importance of preserving Rajaji-Raghav’s biodiversity. The aim is to establish a flourishing biosphere that sustains a wide variety of plant and animal species and offers a small but affluent human population a sustainable place to live.
From Delhi, the biosphere is around a four-hour drive away. It will take you an additional ten minutes to go to the private forest from the main village.
