“Aaj hum humari galliyan chord kar, Alibaug ki galliyon mein jaa rahe hai,” this is what our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, told Chef Ranveer Brar right after the introductory pleasantries. They were on the way to shoot an epic episode of Tere Gully Mein in that beautiful coastal town in Maharashtra and have hearty conversations about food, travel and more. Check out whether Ranveer prefers beaches or mountains.
What Does Ranveer Brar Like More, Beach Or Mountains?
We were extremely excited to rush to Alibaug, cook fresh seafood and have loads of conversations with Ranveer. We bonded on easy trips to this pretty coastal town and how conveniently one can to and fro from Mumbai, all thanks to the M2M ferries! The chef planned to buy a property near a beach in Alibaug years ago.
However, the travel and connectivity gap gradually diminished with the introduction of the ferry services. This resulted in skyrocketing prices of housing facilities in Alibaug. Ranveer’s initial plan of living near the sea was out of the box and he ended up buying a home 20 kilometres away from the beach.
So much preference for beaches and seas, made us question whether he is a beach or a mountain person. Turns out, the chef is strictly a mountain person! He said, “Mountains, always; Bhole (Lord Shiva) ke bhakt hai hum.” Well, he enjoys the best of both worlds then!

According To Chef, This Vegetable Is Best Cultivated In Alibaug
Ranveer talked about the mini-Goa views at Alibaug. He thoroughly enjoys the scenic views, archaic houses, shopping and more. Now, when a chef mentions shopping, it is not always about clothes or shoes. It is their first love, FOOD!
He told us that he goes to buy the freshest seafood and loves to haggle with fish sellers. It is almost a ritual for him. Then, he shared with us that he not only sticks to seafood but also, indulges in veggies. According to him, Alibaug cultivates the best ladyfinger! Kamiya was slightly startled on hearing this and said, “Chef, bhindi sirf aap hi dhundte honge Alibaug jaa kar.”
Ranveer agreed and said that he saw this taunt coming from a mile away but still confessed his thoughts. And Kamiya looked forward to exploring “bhindi and macchi” with him as soon as they docked at the port.
