BEML, India’s prominent metro and rail coach manufacturer, will supply 20 driverless train sets through its Bengaluru plant initially. The firm plans to expand its manufacturing operations at its upcoming Bhopal facility. According to Deccan Herald, these trains will furnish the Pink Line in time for operation by early 2026.

BEML secured the order within a ₹3,177 crore contract awarded by BMRCL. The initial phase allocated to BEML follows delays in supply from CRRC Nanjing Puzhen, the original contractor. BMRCL responded swiftly to maintain the project timeline.

Tunnel and station construction remain well underway, with elevated sections progressing rapidly.

The Pink Line spans roughly 21 km and connects 18 stations, passing through both underground and elevated portions. Once operational, it will link south Bengaluru with key northern suburbs, offering interchanges with the Purple, Blue, and Yellow lines.

Enhanced operations on MG Road, Jayadeva Hospital, Bannerghatta Road, and beyond will support Bengaluru’s expanding urban footprint.

According to Deccan Herald, BEML will roll out a prototype by early 2025, allowing for thorough trials to ensure safety and reliability before mass deployment.
