Travelling by air is preferred by many people these days as it saves time and also gives that luxury feel. From airports to airlines, everything is developing and constantly growing in India. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) revealed traffic data for the month of October showing that 33.71 million passengers flew both domestically and overseas in October 2024, a 9.8% increase in aviation statistics compared to October 2023. Aviation Boost Seen At Several Airports In Karnataka
While domestic traffic climbed by 9.6% over the same period, international traffic increased by 10.3%, as reported by The New Indian Express.
Compared to October 2023, the number of international passengers at Kempegowda International Airport increased by 24.3%, while the number of passengers at Bengaluru Airport increased by 17%, with 35,78,889 flyers in October. International travel to Karnataka’s Mangaluru International Airport increased by 37.3%, while domestic travel increased by 22.2%. Apart from Bengaluru, Mangaluru is home to Karnataka’s only other international airport. Both domestic and foreign travellers are still drawn to these airports.
With the exception of Kalaburagi Airport, every other airport in the State of Karnataka has improved; Belagavi’s airport has only slightly declined by 0.5%, which is insignificant.
In October, Belagavi saw a 0.5% decline from the previous year. In October 2024, there were 7,849 flyers in Mysuru, up 6.3% from 7,386 in the same month the previous year. With 31,075 monthly travellers, Hubballi had a 2.5% rise from October 2023’s 31,075 passengers. 10,779 people visited Shivamogga airport, up from 3,348 the year before. Kalaburagi airport saw a 38.5% decrease in October flights, from 4,096 in 2023 to 2,517 in October.
Flyers at Bengaluru’s HAL airport increased significantly in October 2024, numbering 1301, up from 959 in the same month the previous year, as reported by The New Indian Express.
