The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced the closure of Bannerghatta Road for a year to ensure the smooth progress of metro construction on the Pink Line. From April 1, the road will remain closed for all vehicles for a year. The BMRCL has requested people for their cooperation during this time.

Bannerghatta Road To Remain Closed For A Year Starting April 1

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the closure of  Bannerghatta Road for a year. From April 1, the road will remain closed from MICO Signal to Anepalya Junction on the Bannerghatta Main Road. In the tweet, they mentioned that this closure is due to “metro work at Lakkasandra Underground Metro Station.”

The main work here, as per reports, is the construction of the south-side entry of the Lakkasandra UG metro station. Closing down the road temporarily will help BMRCL ensure smooth progress on Namma Metro’s Pink Line. However, it will significantly impact the traffic movement in the area. BMRCL has asked commuters to plan their travel accordingly and requested their cooperation for the time being.

Authorities have assured that they are taking all the necessary measures to minimise public inconvenience during the year-long closure of Bannerghatta Road. They have planned out alternative routes and are even looking for different transportation options for public use.

The under-construction Pink metro line is one of the most-anticipated routes on Namma Metro as it will improve the city’s connectivity greatly! This 21.25 km-long line is mostly underground – 13.92 km – with a 6.98 km-long elevated stretch in its route. As per BMRCL’s plans, there will be 18 stations on the line, including 12 underground and 6 elevated ones. The interchange stations for this line are likely to be at Jayadeva Hospital Station (Yellow Line), MG Road Station (Purple Line), and Nagawara Metro Station (Blue Line). According to the latest reports by the authorities, certain sections of the Pink Line will start in March 2025.
