Bengaluru: BBMP Plans To Feed Stray Dogs With Leftover Food From Hotels

Sights of stray dogs running behind people and biting them are nothing new. From villages to towns to cities, these instances are a huge problem in different places around us. Bengaluru city is also witnessing similar incidents. Unfortunately, cases of these dogs biting people are rising now. To control the issues caused by stray dogs, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is working on a solution by feeding them with leftover hotel food.

BBMP Plans To Feed Stray Dogs With Leftover Hotel Food

Finding food every day is not the easiest thing for these stray dogs. There have been many cases when they became very aggressive and started attacking humans. BBMP is coming up with efficient solutions to prevent starving dogs from biting human beings. The plan is to feed them and the officials have shared a proposal regarding this as well.

The idea involves a strategy to use leftover food from hotels and serve dogs running and staying on the roads, according to a report by Asianet Newsable. The proposal includes the step of partnering with several hotel owners to take this initiative forward and make it a success. The administrative body also wants to join hands with the local associations for efficient execution. In addition, a significant intention is to create an Animal Welfare Committee.

BBMP’s collaboration with hotel owners and communities will not only find a solution to feed stray dogs with excess hotel food but also prioritise and take steps regarding incidents of dogs biting humans. Many experts pointed out that stray dogs tend to get aggressive when they are unfed. Providing them with food might help in controlling these unfortunate cases.

More About The System

According to the proposed scheme, leftover food will be collected from hotels and distributed among stray dogs across the city. Also, there are a few plans to keep food bowls in many places. The locations will be selected depending on BBMP workers remaining there. To join hands with interested members on this strategy, BBMP is working to introduce a web link for registration purposes.
