An Electric Bus Caught Fire In Bengaluru on Monday

Marula Siddesh (@ThisIsSiddesh) took to X to share videos of smoke emitting out of an electric bus and the long traffic jam that followed.

Many roads in the Karnataka capital are in waterlogged conditions due to ongoing heavy rainfall. It gets risky to travel on flooded roads as rainwater can cause the harshest tragedies in just a couple of minutes. Unfortunately, something similar happened here as well. This BMTC electric bus was travelling to Goraguntepalya from Tin Factory, according to a report by Moneycontrol.

ACP Traffic Northeast Bangalore Pradeep shared a picture of the bus in a horrifying dilapidated condition.

BMTC sources shared that it was a non-AC midi JBM electric bus. As shared by the ACP, the vehicle travelling on a flooded road, was submerged in about two feet of water. The rainwater seeped through and entered the battery of the electric bus. Soon, it triggered a short circuit and the vehicle caught fire. ACP Traffic Northeast Bangalore requested commuters to avoid using electric vehicles on waterlogged roads to avoid similar unfortunate accidents.

Before the bus could catch fire, it stopped operating all of a sudden near Kempapura. It was around 10:50 PM last night when all passengers aboard the bus were taken to another bus as the first one stopped working on the flooded road. Though the driver tried to start it a few times, his attempt was of no use.
