Bengaluru Cantonment Station To Undergo Redevelopment: 44 Trains Rerouted And Platforms 2 & 3 Shut For 92 Days

Bengaluru Cantonment (BNC) railway station will undergo major redevelopment in the coming months. From September 20 to December 20, 2024, the station will see significant redevelopment work. Platforms 2 and 3 will be closed for 92 days. This will impact train operations, and 44 trains will not stop at these platforms.

This closure will disrupt travel plans for many passengers. Southern Railway has issued an official statement regarding the affected trains. The Weekly Superfast Express, number 22135, will continue its journey from Mysuru to Renigunta. It will depart from Mysuru at 11:00 p.m. on various dates. These include September 20 and 27, and October 4, 11, 18, and 25. The train will also run on November 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. In December, it will operate on the 6 and 13.

The Shatabdi Express, train number 12028, will run daily from KSR Bengaluru to Dr MGR Chennai Central. It will depart at 6:00 a.m. This service will continue during the station redevelopment but will not run on Tuesdays. Travellers heading to Ernakulam should be aware of changes to the schedule for Express Train 12677. It will leave KSR Bengaluru at 6:10 a.m. from September 20 to December 20, 2024. If you’re planning a trip between these two cities, make sure to adjust your plans accordingly.

Lalbagh Express, train number 12608, will also be affected. It will depart from KSR Bengaluru at 6:20 a.m. The same dates apply, from September 20 to December 20, 2024. Make sure to check the new schedule if you plan to travel during this period. For passengers heading to SMVT Bengaluru from Murdeshwar, the Murdeshwar-SMVT Bengaluru Express, train number 16586, will leave at 2:10 p.m. This schedule will be in effect from September 19 to December 19, 2024. The train will make stops at Mangaluru Central and Mangaluru Junction.

Updated Train Schedules

Another key service, the Superfast Express (train number 12610), will operate from Mysuru to Dr MGR Chennai Central. This train will leave Mysuru at 5:00 a.m. The updated schedule is valid from September 20 to December 20, 2024. The special MEMU passenger train, number 06551, will run daily from KSR Bengaluru to Jolarpettai. It will leave at 8:45 a.m. The schedule is in place from September 20 to December 20, 2024.

The Bagmati Weekly Express, train number 12578, will run from Mysuru to Darbhanga. This train will depart at 10:30 a.m. on select dates from September to December 2024. Stops include Jolarpettai, Katpadi, Arakkonam, and Perambur.

For those travelling to Chennai, the Double Decker Express, train number 22626, will depart from KSR Bengaluru at 1:30 p.m. The updated schedule runs from September 20 to December 20, 2024.

Finally, the Brindavan Express, train number 12640, will resume service. It will depart from SMVT Bengaluru at 3:10 p.m., heading to Dr MGR Chennai Central. This service will be available from September 20 to December 20, 2024.
