Travelling has been made quite convenient these days because of the advanced transportation system. To improve their timing game, railways in Bengaluru and Chennai have put in a lot of effort. Vande Bharat Express intends to reduce the duration of travel from Bengaluru to Chennai to four hours, which is a 25-minute reduction. The railways’ objective is to expedite the Bengaluru and Chennai segment. It will also cut the current five-hour journey time of Shatabdi by at least twenty minutes.
The Revised Speed Of Vande Bharat’s Bengaluru & Chennai Section
On December 5, a trial to raise the speed restriction from 110 km/h to 130 km/h was conducted on the Bengaluru-Jolarpettai line by the South Western Railway’s Bengaluru division. Once the railway safety commissioner gives an all-clear, these updated speeds will be implemented, as reported by Moneycontrol.
As the revised speed testing is being checked, further measures are being taken, such as advising the public not to trespass on railway tracks and encouraging station platform patrons to use caution to keep a safe distance.
The complete Chennai route would be subject to a 130 km/h speed limit after the Bengaluru-Jolarpettai portion was approved. This will mostly help the Shatabdi Express and Vande Bharat trains, which run between Bengaluru and Chennai every day. The previous year saw a boost in the Chennai-Jolarpettai corridor’s speed to 130 km/h.
Track constraints reduced the top speed of the Vande Bharat train, which was 183 km/h during trial runs, to 160 km/h. The Bengaluru-Chennai corridor is a high-density route with a distance of 360 km. This corridor connects Bengaluru and Chennai, which are hubs of manufacturing facilities and tech parks.
Bridges, fences, level crossings, and flattening curves or gradients will all need to be strengthened, according to SWR officials, in order to raise the maximum allowable speed above 130 kmph, as reported by Moneycontrol.
