Bengaluru-Based Couple Save Big On Europe Trip

Nothing sounds more romantic than a trip to Europe with your significant other! But, the dent it can put in your savings is also undeniable! So, when we saw this post by X (formerly Twitter) users @DoBaniye, on how they saved ₹8 lakh on their dreamy Europe vacation, we knew we had to share it with you all!

Bengaluru-based Sanket Garg and Manasi Jaiswal were able to achieve this feat by taking advantage of hotel deals from Accor and making use of their frequent flyer points. They booked all their flights using the Air France Flying Blue Frequent Flyer Program (FFP).

According to Hindustan Times, this loyalty program is shared by Air France, KLM, and several other partner airlines. It is designed to reward frequent travellers with benefits, miles, flight upgrades, and more. Sanket and Manasi used a mix of these points and cash to reduce the overall cost of their tickets. For example, rather than paying the full revenue rate of ₹2.8 lakh for a flight ticket from Bengaluru to Paris, they redeemed 50,000 Flying Blue miles to cover part of the fare.

They booked their tickets from Paris to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to Rovaniemi, and Amsterdam to Bengaluru in the same way. And they flew business class during their trip as well. According to their X post, instead of paying ₹8.8 lakh in total revenue rate for their flights, they paid only ₹64K in cash and 1.9 lakh miles (points)!

Besides saving so much on their flights, the couple also saved while booking their hotel accommodation during their Europe trip. They made the most of hotel deals and their Accor points. These are the loyalty points offered by Accor Hotels. According to Hindustan Times, members of this loyalty programme earn points for staying at Accor properties like Sofitel, Novotel, Pullman, Mercure, and Fairmont. These points helped the couple book a ₹17,000/night hotel room in Paris at just ₹2,600/night! In their post, they also listed out the credit cards they used that helped them earn these points.
