Damaged road conditions create major issues for commuters, especially during the rush hours. From facing problems in driving to facing traffic congestion, people come across multiple obstacles. Folks of Bengaluru are facing issues on the brand-new Cantonment Station Road. It was opened this year and people have started complaining about its poor conditions already.
The Cantonment Station Road Opened In February 2024

A couple of days ago, a report by the Deccan Herald highlighted how the newly opened road was dug up because of Railways’ poor coordination with the civic agencies. However, the South Western Railway completely denied any such claims regarding the Cantonment Station Road. The current condition of the road is below par and many have raised issues about it.
The Railways started operations on this road in front of the Cantonment Railway Station in February 2024. The road measuring 24 metres in width has a four-lane diversion. One of the primary reasons behind constructing the road was to work on the existing 14-metre-wide road and develop new basement parking spaces. The official decision was finalised after working with Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike.
The newly constructed road opened for the public in February. After a few months of efficient services, the concerned departments decided to dig it. It was during the month of August this year when the right portion of Cantonment Station Road was dug up. The authorities had to burrow and hollow the area to install pipelines for underground water and power, according to a recently published article by Deccan Herald.
The Road Will Get Restored Very Soon

Cantonment Station Road’s present state has become quite the talk of the town in the last few weeks. South Western Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer Manjunath Kanamadi stated important information about the road and provided a timeline for its reconstruction.
The assigned workers are mending the road on a temporary basis regularly. Once the new utilities are commissioned, the permanent restoration project will begin. Manjunath Kanamadi shared that every part of the restoration will be done by November 30, 2024.
