Bengaluru DCP Arrests Rapido Rider Accused Of Masturbating Midway & ‘Love You’ Texts; Shares Pic

There is simply no denying how much taxi services have changed our lives for the better. The introduction of Rapido, the convenient bike taxi, was a boon. The convenience that came with choosing bikes over cars was immensely appreciated by the public. But is it all a bed of roses? Apparently, not! Among other instances over time, a woman from Bengaluru took to Twitter to express the misery of taking a rapido to reach home. She shared how the driver not only texted her on WhatsApp long after the ride ended but also masturbated during the ride.

Rapido Rider Harrased The Woman During The Ride

Athira Purushothaman from Bengaluru shared the entire incident on Twitter and explained how she chose to reach home via a Rapido after participating in a protest against the Manipur Violence incident at Town Hall Bangalore. She initially opted to book an auto, but after multiple cancellations, she resorted to a bike ride instead. What came next certainly wasn’t pleasant. On the way, when they reached a relatively isolated location, the rider moved ahead using one hand. Athira shared that he was using his other hand for masturbating on the way.

While it made her immensely uncomfortable, she remained silent to make sure of her safety. She even ended the ride 200 metres before her house, to make sure the rider didn’t get to identify her house. We can only imagine how uncomfortable it must have felt until she was safely at home. But just when she thought it was over, she received inappropriate texts from the rider. She even shared screenshots of those texts on Twitter.

BCP Arrested The Accused Man

As soon as she posted the incident, it caught the attention of a lot of people. While all of them were disgusted by this indecent act, some found ‘riding the bike with just one hand’ hard to believe. However, once a formal FIR was lodged against him, the Bengaluru city Police arrested the accused. CK Baba, Deputy Commissioner of Police of South-East Division Bengaluru, even shared the update on Twitter and revealed that he was only pretending to be a Rapido driver.

He also shared an image of the man and stated that a criminal case has been lodged against him.
