Bengaluru Has A New Army Camp-Themed Restaurant In JP Nagar & The Josh Is Always High Here!

A new day, a new restaurant to explore. This seems to be the motto of Bengalureans like me as the garden city gives birth to new concept restaurants every other day. Drawing inspiration from the Indian Army, Hunger Camp stationed in JP Nagar 4th phase in Bengaluru brings the best of both— army camp-themed dining concept and lip-smacking food— to the battlefield.

At Hunger Camp, In Bengaluru, The Josh Is Always High

Don’t worry folks, you don’t need to toil hard, clutch your rifles or trek to the top of the peak for your meal at Hunger Camp. Just walk into the army camp-themed restaurant with your phones handy. Take aim and shoot…. photos and reels of course! After all, you wouldn’t want to miss out on the Insta-worthy experience!

The entire restaurant is designed to give you the feeling that you entered an underground army bunker. Right from the dim white lights to camouflage-themed seating to helmets repurposed as lamps, you’d get a faint feeling that you’re stationed in a base camp of your favourite military movies like Uri or Lakshya. How’s the Josh? High Sir!

What left me fascinated was the attention to detail exhibited in the ambience. A topographic map hangs on the wall. An entire space is dedicated to our brave soldiers who were bestowed with the Param Vir Chakra. A corner of the dining space displays the army gear and essentials needed in the bunker. Servers are smartly dressed in camouflage. Water is served from a flask, while the tables have grenade-shaped salt and pepper shakers. Well, this attention to detail to give you a full-blown army camp experience is quite fascinating.

Multi-Cuisine Menu With Indian & Indo-Chinese Dishes

When it comes to food, Hunger Camp has a mixed menu of North Indian and Indo-Chinese favourites. While you’d get your meaty kebabs, tikkas and soups, we were impressed by their super crunchy Gobi Manchurian. It’s a perfect starter to commence your meal and you just can’t go wrong with the order. An appetiser that left us pleasantly surprised was the Himachali Pahadi Aloo Tikka. Baby potatoes were pan-fried in a coriander-mint-green chilly paste for a toothsome eating experience.

For mains, we’d recommend their Kadai Veg — which was a spicy, creamy mixed vegetable curry— and Sabzi Nawabi Keema Handi, a richer lightly sweet vegetable gravy. Hunger Camp’s other bestsellers include Coriander Fish, Chilli Mushroom, Mutton Rogan Josh and spicy Murg Hyderabadi. Apart from the usual break basket straight from the tandoor, you can also pair your gravies with their Cheese Chilly Garlic Naan (which reminds you of spicy desi pizza).

Wash down your spicy, lip-smacking meal with a bowl of their homemade gajar ka halwa with vanilla ice cream and khoya-filled spongey gulab jamun. Don’t forget to order their eclectic mocktails and milkshakes like the Saffron Milkshake, Raspberry Mojito and Apple Cinnamon.
