Bengaluru’s Namma Metro Green Line extension, from Nagasandra to Madavara, will open for commercial operation on November 7. It’s a stretch of 3.14 kilometres. The decision comes after the Metro Railway Safety Commissioner thoroughly examined the segment on October 3, as reported by the Press Trust of India (PTI). During a test run from Yeshwanthpur Metro Station, Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar examined the metro line that runs from Nagasandra to Madavara.
Bengaluru Namma Metro’s New Extension Details
At a cost of ₹1,168 crore, including land costs of ₹152 crore, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has finished an elevated metro corridor as part of Phase 2 of the project. It also runs 3.14 km from Nagasandra to Madavara and has three stations: Majunathanagar, Chikkabidarakallu, and Madavara.
According to the Press Trust of India (PTI), the BMRCL declared that the project’s smallest extension to Phase-1 under Phase-2 is finished, guaranteeing that any additional extensions to Phase-1 under Phase-2 are similarly finished.
Travel time will be reduced by up to 30% thanks to the metro line’s two crossings of the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) road along the National Highway. This would improve access to the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), flat buildings, and neighbouring cities.
With the launch of a new line, the BMRCL has revealed that an extra 44,000 people will have direct metro access to BIEC. BIEC is one of Karnataka’s largest conference and exposition venues. With 69 stops and a length of 76.95 km, the new line will add 33.46 km to the North-South corridor (Green Line) and 43.49 km to the East-West corridor (Purple Line) of the Metro network.
