Ahead of the Gowri-Ganesha Festival, the Bengaluru Police has released some strict guidelines and advisories for the organisers and the public. To ensure a peaceful celebration without any disruption, the police have ordered organisers to obtain all the necessary permissions from their local police stations before installing idols in public spaces. Bengaluru is all set to celebrate the Gowri-Ganesha festival on September 7. Honouring two significant deities in Hinduism, Goddess Parvati and her son, Lord Ganesha, this festival is celebrated with full gusto in the city. During the celebration, different organisations install Ganesha idols and conduct immersion processions on different days. To ensure that the grand celebration does not disrupt the daily lives of the people, the Bengaluru Police has issued several guidelines and advisories for the organisers and the public.

As per The Indian Express report, Bengaluru Police has made it mandatory for the organisers in the city to obtain necessary permissions from their local police stations before installing idols in public spaces. In their guidelines for the organisers, they have mentioned that the idol installation “should not obstruct public or vehicular traffic, especially on busy roads.” They will also have to secure permits from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for constructing pandals in public areas.

Mandatory Permissions, Advisories & Other Things To Keep In Mind

According to The Indian Express report, the Bengaluru Police has released detailed and strict guidelines for organisers in the city ahead of the Gowri-Ganesha festival. Here are a few things to keep in mind –

1. Organisers will have to get all necessary permissions from their local police stations before installing idols in public spaces.
2. They will also have to secure permits from BBMP to construct pandals in public areas.
3. As per the directives of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, organisers will also have to follow specific environmental guidelines.
4. They cannot install flexes, boards, and banners.
5. For security and safety purposes, organisers are also required to install CCTV cameras, and fire extinguishers, and display emergency contact numbers at the venue.
6. Use of cooking fuel (wood, kerosene, or stoves) is strictly prohibited in and around the idol installation sites.
7. A ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the fire brigade along with all necessary approvals from the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited for electrical wiring and decorations are also required.
8. Loudspeakers can only be used between 6 AM and 10 PM.
