KSRTC To Soon Launch Longest Daily Bus Service

According to an article which was recently published by Deccan Herald or DH, there is a strong demand for long-distance bus routes. As per an official cited in the DH article, the KSRTC also wants to explore new routes as it now has a proven track record.

Puri and Ahmedabad are around 1,500 kilometres away from Bengaluru which will make these bus routes the longest that KSRTC has to offer. In order to launch these services, the KSRTC needs approvals from the RTCs of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Odisha.

Puri is a prominent pilgrimage site and many Hindus from across the country flock to this destination for religious purposes. There aren’t many direct Bengaluru to Puri Bus services, however.

As of now, the longest bus routes that KSRTC offers are to Shirdi and Mumbai. These cities are around 1,000 kilometres away from Bengaluru. Officials are hopeful about the profitability of these new routes as Puri sees a lot of religious tourism.

The routes will have two buses – one for the onward journey and one for the return journey. The buses will not have a toilet onboard and will take around 27 to 28 hours to finish the journey. The tickets for the journey will be priced around ₹2,500.

The existing long-distance routes are considered flagship services and hence, the new routes will also be premium.
