First Suspected Mpox Case Reported In Bengaluru
On the night of January 22, the city started making the headlines for a probable case of Mpox affecting a 40-year-old man. According to a report by Deccan Herald or DH, sources revealed that the patient has travelled to Dubai recently. Following some symptoms relating to Mpox, he was admitted to Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru.
Currently, he is undergoing treatment and receiving care and doctors are working to assure whether it is a Mpox case. If this suspected case proves the patient suffering from Mpox, it will be the first report recorded in Karnataka this year. As of now, inspections and medical examinations are ongoing to find out confirmed information.
As of now, there is nothing to worry about or panic. People’s concerns about their health, fearing the worst consequences are normal, considering how Mpox caused chaos in many places in 2024. Countries in different continents including Asia and Africa reported many Mpox cases. In August 2024, the cases began to surge so much that the World Health Organisation called it a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.
