BBHA Seeks Permission To Operate Restaurants 24/7
Hoteliers in Bengaluru have requested the state government to allow them to run restaurants in the city 24/7. BBHA has written to Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar about the same. While talking to Deccan Herald, BBHA President Subramanya Holla mentioned that the central government has granted permission for restaurants in metro cities to operate 24/7. The Karnataka government had, reportedly, agreed to this as well. However, they have not issued an official order or approval for this yet.
The city hoteliers are not requesting the government for an official approval for the same. According to them, while the street vendors are able to operate till the wee hours of the morning, restaurants and cafes in the city have to shut down by 1 AM. They want to run operations 24/7 to provide people in the city with more late-night options.
Other Requests To Simplifying Business Operations
Besides requesting restaurants in Bengaluru to run 24/7, BBHA has also asked the authorities to remove trade licences for their industry. According to the Deccan Herald report, BBHA has mentioned in the letter that the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licence and professional tax already fulfil these requirements.
They have also asked the government to do away with the need to renew these licences annually. They wish for permanent trade licences for smoother operation of business. BBHA has also requested the withdrawal of a proposal to increase factory licence fees by tenfold, as per Deccan Herald.
