India’s railway infrastructure is set to get a new boost! Karnataka is set to receive one more high-speed Vande Bharat Express train between Bengaluru and Shivamogga. Once operational, this new route will mark Karnataka’s 12th Vande Bharat Express, strengthening the state’s high-speed rail connectivity and expanding its premium rail network. New Vande Bharat Train On Bengaluru-Shivamogga Route
Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that Bengaluru is all set to be connected to Shivamogga with a new Vande Bharat train. The post simply said, “Shivamogga-Bengaluru Vande Bharat soon.” While details about the train’s launch date and timetable are yet to be released, this service has been long-awaited by residents of Shivamogga.
Located about 300 kilometres from Bengaluru, Shivamogga got an airport in 2023. This new train connectivity will further make travel faster and more comfortable, and convenient for students, professionals, and business travellers. According to Hindustan Times, with this new announcement, Bengaluru will be directly connected by Vande Bharat trains to seven major cities–Mysuru, Chennai, Ernakulam, Hyderabad, Dharwad, Coimbatore, and Belagavi. It will also be Karnataka’s 12th Vande Bharat train route.

Bengaluru-Mangaluru Route Nears Completion
In another good news, the Bengaluru-Mangaluru Vande Bharat Express is also nearing completion. Karnataka’s Railway Minister, V. Somanna, confirmed the progress on this much-awaited route recently. As per the latest reports, electrification work on about 22 km stretch is complete, and the remaining 33 km is still underway. This upcoming train will benefit residents across Bengaluru, Tumakuru, Hassan, and Mangaluru.
