Bengaluru To Get A New 60,000-Seater Multi-Purpose Stadium Soon

We have some good news, folks! Bengaluru is all set to get a new multi-sports stadium which will be able to accommodate 60,000 people. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced this plan during the 516th birth anniversary celebration of Bengaluru’s founder, Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, on Friday. Bengaluru To Soon Get A 60,000-Seater Stadium

According to the Hindustan Times, Bengaluru will soon have a 60,000-seater multi-sports stadium. This new facility will be designed to reduce congestion and enhance crowd management, especially during major public events. Deputy CM D K Shivakumar also mentioned that the authorities have already identified three locations and the project will need around 50 acres of land.

The Deputy CM shared these plans while speaking at the 516th birth anniversary celebration of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda organised by the Department Kannada and Culture Department, BBMP and Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Development Authority. He added that further details of the project will be shared soon.

This announcement comes weeks after the fatal stampede that shook the nation during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL victory celebration near Chinnaswamy Stadium. 11 people were killed during the incident and many were severely injured. The incident sparked debate about inadequate crowd management by the state government and authorities.

More Infrastructure Plans For The City

Besides the announcement of a new 60,000-seater stadium, Deputy CM D K Shivakumar also announced more infrastructure plans worth ₹1 lakh crore in Bengaluru. He said that keeping Kempegowda’s vision for Bengaluru in mind, the state is ensuring world-class infrastructure for the city. He added that the plans include 40 km of tunnel road and 118 km of elevated corridors, among other projects.

Keeping Bengaluru clean is also an important agenda of the state government’s plans for the city. They promised door-to-door delivery of draft e-khatas and additional Cauvery water to the city.
