Bengaluru: Torrential Rains Cause Traffic, Waterlogging In Many Areas; IMD Predicts Rainy Week Ahead

Bengaluru woke up to heavy rain this morning and the continuous downpour added to the traffic woes of the commuters, especially during the peak hours. Reportedly, rain lashed Bengaluru overnight and continued well into Tuesday morning. This caused water logging in several areas of the city and traffic congestion in the morning.

Heavy Rain In Bengaluru Causes Traffic Woes; More Rainfall Predicted

Bengaluru’s traffic troubles just got worse this morning, thanks to the torrential rain in the city! As per The Indian Express report, water logging was reported in areas like Outer Ring Road, Old Madras Road, Hoodi Junction, M S Palya Depot Road, Hennur, Sultanpet Junction, and Vibgyor School Road. Also, several low-lying roads were flooded due to the heavy rainfall that hit the city.

As per the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast, very heavy rain is expected in Bengaluru and surrounding districts till October 18. Furthermore, overcast conditions will also continue in the city this week. IMD also issued an orange alert for the south interior districts of Karnataka till Thursday. They forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas.

The continuous downpour has also dampened the spirits of cricket lovers in the city. The rain has put uncertainty on whether the India v/s New Zealand test match, scheduled to start on October 16, will take place or not at Bengaluru’s M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.
