We have all come across people who lack basic manners and social etiquette when out and about. It can be frustrating to see people being inconsiderate and to the extent that when confronted, they are willing to even create a ruckus in public. Something similar happened to a Bengaluru woman recently when she was at a local darshini – a small eatery serving Udupi cuisine. An uncle cut in line and created a ruckus when he was called out. This is what the restaurant did.
Bengaluru Woman Confronts Man On Cutting In Line
A few weeks ago I got into a huge fight (full public scene) with an uncle at the darshini near my house. At the counter he cut in front of me in the line and, not wanting to make a scene, I simply turned to him and said, “there’s a line here” to which he snapped at me

A woman recently took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and shared a recent bad encounter she had with an uncle. She said that the incident took place a few weeks ago. She was at a local darshini, in a line. The uncle cut into the line in front of her.
He said, “There’s no sign saying to make a line, you can stand in a line if you want to” (remember this detail) and waved his hand at me.
It PISSED me TF OFF lol but I didn’t want to escalate things so I just rolled my eyes and decided to let it go, but as I sat and ate my dosa…

When she said that there was a line and pointed out that he could not do what he had just done, the uncle snapped at her and said that there was no sign saying that they should form a queue. At first, the woman let it go because she did not want to make a scene.
It really takes nothing to just follow basic social etiquette in public + have a default polite attitude to strangers. I also knew he spoke to me that way because he saw I was a young girl = no consequences of behaviour, for creepy uncles. So I decided to confront him

However, the more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She decided to calmly confront the guy once more. However, as soon as talked to him, the uncle began yelling and creating a scene. It wasn’t long before he started hurling abuses at her.
So when he came to wash his hands, I calmly walked up to him and asked him why he spoke to me like that. He asked me what my problem was and I was like bruh it’s just basic manners, I don’t have to tell you that. And no matter what, you can’t speak to me this way

This Is What The Restaurant Did The Next Time She Went
But despite my restraint, he made it a public scene. At one point, he’s shouting at me asking me how dare I look at him and speak to him, his family (w/ 4 other women btw) are asking me why I irritated him and why I’m making a scene, and eventually he starts hurling profanities…

This angered the woman’s boyfriend and the two got into a heated argument. Feeling that the situation was getting out of hand, the woman quickly dispelled the argument but the incident left a bad taste in her mouth.
It got to a point where people stood up from their seats to spectate, other people are coming in to mediate and I’m beginning to feel physically unsafe. I decided to break it all up and leave the scene, there was no point to this anymore

She did not go back to the eatery for another couple of weeks as it still felt too soon. One day she decided to go back. To her utter delight and surprise, she saw that the restaurant now had a sign that said “Q please.” She saw it as a win as no one else could use the excuse of “there is no sign saying so” as an excuse for such antisocial behaviour.
Fast forward to today, I decided to come here bec I was craving a good masala dose and coffee.
And I noticed that they have a new sign next to the counter. Remember what he said about there being no sign saying anything about following a line? Well guess what the new sign says?… pic.twitter.com/97Wd6RUqF9
