Almost every month, there comes a day when Bengaluru’s roads make headlines on social media, and that’s exactly what happened this time. One X user, @FI_InvestIndia, recently uploaded a photo of a stretch on the Varthur-Gunjur Road in the city. The image showed a huge pothole, with commuters struggling to pass through it.
The user captioned the image, “Normally, the Road size will be 98% and the Pothole size would be 2%. In this photo shot on 17th October 2025 in Bengaluru, Road is only 2% and LakeHole is 98%.” The user also tagged the Chief Commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) to take action and make the road ‘pothole-free.” From the picture, the road almost looks like a mini lake, with vehicles trying to navigate over it. Roads like these not only cause inconvenience but also make the city look bad.
Netizens React With Humour & Frustration
Naturally, the post has drawn humorous reactions from netizens. One user wrote, “If Bengaluru’s roads keep turning into lakes, commuters might soon start carrying boats instead of cars—urgent repair needed before the city becomes the next Venice!” Another joked, “The new waterfront commute experience, brought to you by Bengaluru Roads Pvt. Ltd.” while someone else commented, “Bengaluru’s new infrastructure marvel — the National Aquatic Highway!”
Though many comments were light-hearted, several users also criticised the authorities for not taking timely action. They pointed out that roads in Bengaluru need urgent attention, and no commuter should have to deal with such poor conditions daily. You would also like to know that just last week, many Bengaluru residents took to the streets, protesting for better, pothole-free roads across the city.
We hope the authorities act soon to make Bengaluru’s roads safer and free from potholes.
