Bengaluru Pink Metro Line Trials Begin: First 7.5 Km Stretch To Open In May 2026

Good news for Bengaluru commuters. The much-anticipated Bengaluru Pink Line Metro has finally hit the rails. No, it has not launched yet, but trial runs have now begun. The 21.25 km Kalena Agrahara-Nagawara corridor will open in phases. Here’s everything you need to know about this latest update.

Bengaluru Pink Line Metro Enters Testing Phase

According to a report by NewsFirst Prime, the much-awaited Pink Line of the Bengaluru Metro has officially entered its testing phase. Trial runs began on the corridor recently, marking a major step towards the launch. The new metro line will connect Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara and span a total length of 21.25 kilometres. Trial runs are being conducted to test track alignment, signalling systems, and overall safety standards. An X user, @Mr_GPB, also shared a video showing Bengaluru’s Pink Line Metro during its trial run.

These trials are crucial to ensure passenger safety before the corridor opens to the public. The corridor is being developed in phases, with authorities planning staggered launches and inaugurations for smooth and safe operations. In Phase One, a 7.5 km elevated stretch between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere is expected to open by May 2026. This stretch will include six elevated metro stations.

Pink Line To Improve North-South Connectivity

If everything goes smoothly, passenger services on the Phase One stretch could begin soon. However, this will depend on the successful completion of trials and the required safety approvals from relevant authorities. As per a report by NewsFirst Prime, the remaining stretch from Tavarekere to Nagawara will be underground.

It will include 12 underground metro stations. Operations on this section of Bengaluru’s Pink Line are expected to begin by November, once construction and testing are complete. Once fully operational, the Pink Line Metro is expected to significantly improve north-south connectivity across Bengaluru. It will also help to ease the daily commute for over a thousand commuters in the city.
