Metro Tracks Or Roller Coaster? Bengaluru’s Airport Road Elevated Tracks Spark Online Buzz

People seem to have spotted a roller coaster in the middle of an under-construction metro line in Bengaluru! Confused? Don’t be. A viral Reddit post highlighted a steep stretch of the city’s elevated metro line that closely resembles a steel roller coaster. And, of course, the internet has plenty to say about it!

Redditor NothingnessWithinMe recently shared pictures of an elevated section of an under-construction Bengaluru Metro that dramatically resembled a roller coaster. “Metro-coaster? Seen metro climbing steep slopes in Bangalore anywhere yet?” they asked in the post.

As per Hindustan Times, the images in question are of a metro line in north Bengaluru, most likely located after the Hebbal flyover on Airport Road. The pronounced upward and downward curves of the elevated track left many wondering whether such a structure is common. While some users noted that this is typical for underground metro lines, others observed that seeing such steep curves on an elevated track is relatively unusual.

Netizens React To The Post

Unsurprisingly, the steep, almost roller coaster-like structure of the Bengaluru metro sparked widespread discussion online. While many users shared their theories about the reason behind the elevated track’s steep curves, others maintained that it looked fairly routine. Several people also speculated about which metro line and which part of the city the images were taken from.

“How is it different from the purple line? It goes underground and then goes up too,” one user asked.

Another comment read, “It happens more often than you think. We don’t have the same level of ground everywhere and intersections of different lanes. And, the slope that you showed is not anywhere close to steep. Metro will control it accordingly in this section so it won’t feel like a roller-coaster.”

“When you’re tired of Bangalore life, riding in these metro-coasters helps to keep your mind stable,” one of the users wrote in the comments.

One user added, “Even the airport line is like that. I don’t understand, maybe it’s to use gravity and save electricity? Surely, it can’t be a smooth ride as a passenger.”
