All About The Bharat Bandh Today
According to The Times of India, these central trade unions are protesting against government policies. According to the protestors, the Bharat Bandh today is aimed at opposing “pro-corporate and anti-worker” policies implemented by the government. More than 25 crore workers across multiple sectors are expected to take part in the strike. INTUC, AITUC, CITU, HMS, SEWA, AIUTUC, AICCTU, LPF, UTUC, and TUCC are leading the nationwide strike today in multiple cities.

What’s Open & What’s Closed?
The Bharat Bandh today is expected to cause widespread disruption in several sectors. According to Hindustan Times, here’s a list of all the services that are open, closed, or likely to be disrupted because of the strike –
1. While no official bank holiday has been announced, employee participation is expected and likely to disrupt services in some cities. Media reports suggest that the Bengal Provincial Bank Employees Association, affiliated with the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), has publicly declared its support for the strike.
2. People from the insurance sector are also expected to join the protest.
3. There may be some power supply disruption as power sector employees are also taking part in Bharat Bandh today.
4. Public transport, railways, and road travel may face some inconvenience. Although there has been no announcement of strikes by these sectors, the strike is likely to affect these services.
5. Postal operations may be affected by the Bharat Bandh.
6. Government offices and PSUs may also be affected.
7. Schools, colleges, and all educational institutions remain open today.
8. Essential services, markets, and shops will not be affected by the Bharat Bandh.
9. Emergency and healthcare services will also remain open.
