It was back in August 2021 when the Government of India launched the Bharat Series registration number all around India for non-transport vehicles. Also known as the BH series number plate, the registration for this began on September 15, 2021. The government decided to introduce this number plate so that personal vehicles can continue to travel and move to different states and union territories conveniently. With this number plate, there is no need to transfer the registration process of the vehicles or register again after moving to a different state. There are many advantages of this license plate but not every vehicle owner can simply get one of these.
Who is eligible for the BH numbers? According to a report by NDTV, Indian citizens can get this number plate only if they are falling into any of these categories:
- State government employee
- Central government employee
- Defence personnel
- State Public Sector Undertakings’ staff
- Employees of the private sector where the companies have offices in at least 4 states or union territories

Here’s How People Can Apply For BH Number Plate:

- The most important and first step is to fill up Form 60 right when you buy a car.
- While adding the necessary details to this form, make sure to submit proof of ID and your employment status as well.
In the next step, State Government authorities will take a look at the submitted documents and verify everything. Following these steps, BH registration will be assigned. The motor vehicle tax for vehicles with this number plate will either be charged for 2 years or over the multiple of two years. Vehicle owners need to pay annual motor vehicle tax after the fourthteenth year. This tax will be half of the amount that they paid earlier.
